We welcome you to the Martial Arts Institute! Here we focus on building strong minds and bodies for all of our students. No prior experience is necessary - we teach all ability levels with karate classes for adults and for children ages 8 & up.
Everyone is invited to come watch a class or participate in a real class as a trial with no obligation or hard sell - that is not our style. The only commitment we ask our students to make is to themselves - we don't believe in contracts. We have small classes where you get personalized attention every time to help ensure you get the most out of your karate training.

Upcoming events:
Karate with My Kid:
Have fun, learn something new & grow from the experience! That is what family karate at the Martial Arts Institute is all about. Every child we teach trains with a parent or family member in the SAME class.
In this three-week program, families will learn traditional Goju Ryu karate in an environment that allows parents and kids to connect on a different level. Together families will be introduced to kihon (basics) and kumite (partner training).
In “Karate with My Kid” families will learn something of value while having fun and engaging with each other. Most importantly, though, families will be spending quality time together. This program is a means to articulate how martial arts training and traditional Okinawan philosophies can enhance and improve the dynamic of the family. (Youth 9 - 18 encouraged to attend with parent/guardian)
No experience necessary. Ages 9 - up welcome.

Testing 2021
Dan shinsa 2020
Some random highlights from the Black Belt final held in 2020. We had several families testing at the same time who got to work together during all of the partner training. We had 9 candidates promoted and all of them worked hard and earned their well deserved promotions! |

At the Martial Arts Institute, we teach authentic, Okinawan GoJu Ryu Karate. We teach the original format of this highly regarded martial art the way it has been handed down for generations by maintaining strong ties to its history and roots in Okinawa.
